This former Protestant church from the 1960s, designed by star architect Olaf Andreas Gulbransson, has a very special charm. Reduced to the essentials, it is an absolute eye-catcher with its simple altar, in the background the beautiful windows, which allow an unbelievable play of colors in the evening light, the organ still working and the round pointed roof with a star-shaped window in the middle.Just lovely.

FYI: This church was desecrated in 2016 and has been for sale almost unused since then. It was even supposed to be torn down and give way to a block of flats. I have given it what I think is a good new purpose, so that this great church can last us!

The facility has just been prepared especially for you. We have furnished it with great attention to detail and a lot of natural materials such as wood and metal for a pleasant atmosphere. Since these apartments are very special, they have also been given extra high-quality furnishings. So be curious.

There will be 5 large double beds (king size), 2 French double beds and 2 large sofa beds spread over 6 bedrooms and the 2 living rooms (as shown on the floor plan). You will be able to sleep peacefully in the finest hotel bed linen.

The new kitchen (1 with cooking island and adjoining bar counter) was built especially for you at the beginning of October and is already waiting to be cooked with all possible cooking utensils. 2 dishwashers are available for each case.

Basics such as salt, pepper, oil, sugar, organic coffee capsules, tea, dishcloths and sponges, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tabs and 2 tea towels per kitchen are of course available.

In the large hall, the living and dining room, nothing stands in the way of cozy evenings in front of the smart TV with sound system or extensive game evenings at the large dining table.

A double-sided flipchart with markers and magnets is also available for workshops, seminars and workations.

Generous radiators under the benches on the rotunda ensure pleasant warmth. In the pastor's apartment and church, a fireplace provides cozy warmth in winter.

The new barrier-free bathroom was equipped with the highest quality materials. A toilet, a chic washbasin with a large round mirror and a floor-to-ceiling rain shower are just waiting for you. A second large bathroom with bathtub, shower and double washbasin is available for you in the pastor's apartment.

There are also 2 outdoor terraces to soak up the sun and can also be enjoyed extensively in summer with the appropriate patio furniture.

Notes

Important: You want to book the former church? Due to the size of the room, it can get cooler inside when the outside temperatures are cold. Central heating, gas stoves and a wood-burning fireplace are available. Wool blankets are also provided. Please only book if you are okay with that.

This was a religious place.

I ask you to behave accordingly. The bells hanging outside are also not allowed to be rung. Furthermore, no religious acts and masses may be held.

The development of noise must always be kept low, especially at night. This is a residential area only. The quiet times from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. must be strictly observed.

Extraordinary visitor traffic that has not been agreed with me and the city of Kelheim is also prohibited.

Pets are not allowed on the real wood parquet floor of the church sacristy bedroom. The guest is liable for any damage.

Check-in is from 5 p.m., check-out is at 10 a.m. on the day of departure. The check-in and check-out times are designed so that my cleaning staff have enough time to prepare the apartment between stays on the same day. Due to the size of the individual apartments, this takes time.

However, earlier check-in or later check-out are possible subject to availability. Talk to me about it.

Neighbourhood

The significantly larger Catholic St. Pius Church is 200m away from the former St. Luke's Church, where you stay.

In the distance in the direction of Kelheim's old town, the memorial of the Liberation Hall can be clearly seen. The rotunda of the Lukaskirche was specially adapted to the round shape of the Liberation Hall by the architect and was designed in this way.

Furthermore, the Weltenburg monastery with the adjacent Danube Gorge can be reached in 15 minutes by car. Hiking routes start in Kelheim.

The picturesque Altmühltal begins right next to Kelheim with its castles, palaces, mountains and valleys worth seeing, as well as rocks and Roman testimonies and, of course, the Altmühl river that gives it its name.

The Danube is also just around the corner and, with its cycle paths and natural monuments such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site Danube Limes, also creates correspondingly beautiful landscapes.

Last but not least, Regensburg, where I live, is of course always worth a trip. I'm happy to give you tips.

Transport

You can park anywhere on the street (Kleiberstrasse and Elsterstrasse).

Please be considerate of the residents opposite and their driveways so that they can get in and out easily.

There are also 3 gravel parking spaces next to the courtyard entrance, the parking space in front of the church gate is reserved for guests staying in the church apartment.

Please do not park in front of the garage, this is already in use. Please check the parking regulations. This is posted in the hallway.
