This former evangelical church from the 1960s, designed by star architect Olaf Andreas Gulbransson, has a very special charm. Reduced to the essentials, it is an absolute eye-catcher with its simple altar, the beautiful windows in the background, which allow an incredible play of colors in the evening light, the still functioning organ and the round pointed roof with a star-shaped window in the middle.

A "WOW" can be elicited from anyone who enters the church.

FYI: This church was desecrated in 2016 and since then has been for sale almost unused. It should even be demolished and make way for a block of flats. I have given it what I think is a good new purpose, so that this great church will be preserved for us!

The interior has just been prepared especially for you and designed and coordinated in color. We have furnished them with great attention to detail and many natural materials such as wood and metal for a pleasant atmosphere.

There are 3 large double beds (king size) and a large sofa bed spread over 2 bedrooms and the living room (as shown on the floor plan). You will be able to sleep peacefully in the finest hotel bed linen.

The new kitchen with cooking island and adjoining bar counter was recently installed especially for you and is already waiting to be cooked with the extensive kitchen equipment. A dishwasher is of course available.

Basics such as salt, pepper, oil, sugar, organic coffee capsules, tea, dishcloths and sponges, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tabs and 2 tea towels per kitchen are of course available.

In the adjoining living and dining room, nothing stands in the way of cozy evenings in front of the Smart TV with Teufel sound system or extensive game nights at the 2 large dining tables. There is room for 18 people to dine in large groups.

A double-sided flipchart with markers and magnets is also available for workshops, seminars and workations.

Pleasant warmth is provided by high-yield radiators under the benches on the rotunda. In addition, a wood stove can be fired, which offers a feel-good atmosphere in winter. There is enough wood.

The barrier-free bathroom was equipped with the highest quality materials. A toilet, a chic washbasin with a large round mirror and a floor-to-ceiling, luxurious rain shower await you after a beautiful day full of new experiences.

There is also an outdoor terrace for soaking up the sun and can also be extensively enjoyed in summer with the appropriate patio furniture. A large gas grill can also be used on request to spend a cozy barbecue evening with your family or friends.

Notes

Important: You want to book the former church? Due to the size of the room, it can get cooler inside when the outside temperatures are cold. Central heating, gas stoves and a wood-burning fireplace are available. Wool blankets are also provided. Please only book if you are okay with that.

This was a religious place.

I ask you to behave accordingly. The bells hanging outside are also not allowed to be rung. Furthermore, no religious acts and masses may be held.

The development of noise must always be kept low, especially at night. This is a residential area only. The quiet times from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. must be strictly observed.

Extraordinary visitor traffic that has not been agreed with me and the city of Kelheim is also prohibited.

Pets are not allowed on the real wood parquet floor of the church sacristy bedroom. The guest is liable for any damage.

Check-in is from 5 p.m., check-out is at 10 a.m. on the day of departure.

The check-in and check-out times are designed so that my cleaning staff have enough time to prepare the apartment between stays on the same day. Due to the size of the individual apartments, this takes time.

However, earlier check-in or later check-out are possible subject to availability. Talk to me about it.

Neighbourhood

The significantly larger Catholic St. Pius Church is 200m away from the former St. Luke's Church, where you stay.

In the distance in the direction of Kelheim's old town, the memorial of the Liberation Hall can be clearly seen. The rotunda of the Lukaskirche was specially adapted to the round shape of the Liberation Hall by the architect and was designed in this way.

Furthermore, the Weltenburg monastery with the adjacent Danube Gorge can be reached in 15 minutes by car. Hiking routes start in Kelheim.

The picturesque Altmühltal begins right next to Kelheim with its castles, palaces, mountains and valleys worth seeing, as well as rocks and Roman testimonies and, of course, the Altmühl river that gives it its name.

The Danube is also just around the corner and, with its cycle paths and natural monuments such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site Danube Limes, also creates correspondingly beautiful landscapes.

Last but not least, my home in Regensburg is of course always worth a trip. I'm happy to give you tips.

Transport

You can park anywhere on the street (Kleiberstrasse and Elsterstrasse). Please be considerate of the residents opposite and their driveways so that they can get in and out easily. There are also 3 parking spaces next to the church. The space in front of the church gate is intended for guests of the church apartment. Please do not park in front of the garage, this is already in use.
