This former Protestant church from the 1960s, designed by star architect Olaf Andreas Gulbransson, has a very special charm. Reduced to the essentials, it is an absolute eye-catcher with its simple altar, in the background the beautiful windows, which allow an unbelievable play of colors in the evening light, the organ still working and the round pointed roof with a star-shaped window in the middle. Just lovely.

FYI: This church was desecrated in 2016 and has been for sale almost unused since then. It was even supposed to be torn down and give way to a block of flats. I have given it what I think is a good new purpose, so that this great church can last us!

The facility has just been prepared especially for you. We have furnished it with great attention to detail and many natural materials such as wood and metal, for a pleasant atmosphere.

You are also welcome to take a look at the floor plans to get a good overview of the premises.

Since this building is very special, it has also been given an extra high-quality facility. So be curious.

There will be 7 large double beds (king size), 2 French double beds and 2 single beds in all 3 apartments in the building. There are also 3 large sofa beds for 6 additional guests. You will be able to sleep peacefully in the finest hotel bed linen.

The 3 new kitchens, the church kitchen with cooking island, were built especially for you at the beginning of October 2021 and offer everything that makes a cook's heart beat faster. From coffee pad machines to toasters and from large pots to grill cutlery, absolutely everything is available to be able to cook and dine appropriately.

Basics such as salt, pepper, oil, sugar, organic coffee capsules, tea, dishcloths and sponges, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tabs and 2 tea towels per kitchen are of course available.

The highlight is certainly the converted former church with its huge wall unit including smart TV and sound system, as well as a large living area and lavish dining area. Coupled with the elegant furnishings and the beautiful colorful glass windows, it is really easy to endure here.

There is also most of the space here to all sit together and just celebrate, chat and relax. If necessary, an extra dining table and chairs can be placed inside. A double-sided flipchart with markers and magnets is also available for workshops, seminars and workations. Just write me your wishes and we will make it possible.

You can also take a good book out of the wall unit and let the atmosphere of this fascinating accommodation work on you in the comfortable designer armchair and just let your mind wander.

There are 3 bathrooms throughout the building. One with bathtub and double washbasin, 2 with shower (1 of which is a walk-in rain shower).

Here are also 3 outdoor terraces to soak up the sun and can also be enjoyed extensively in summer with the appropriate patio furniture.

If you have any questions about your accommodation search, I am at your disposal and we will make your event an unforgettable one with your loved ones.

Notes

Important: You want to book the former church? Due to the size of the room, it can get cooler inside when the outside temperatures are cold. Central heating, gas stoves and a wood-burning fireplace are available. Wool blankets are also provided. Please only book if you are okay with that.

This was a religious place.

I ask you to behave accordingly. The bells hanging outside are also not allowed to be rung. Furthermore, no religious acts and masses may be held.

The development of noise must always be kept low, especially at night. This is a residential area only. The quiet times from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. must be strictly observed.

Extraordinary visitor traffic that has not been agreed with me and the city of Kelheim is also prohibited.

Pets are not allowed on the real wood parquet floor of the church sacristy bedroom. The guest is liable for any damage.

Check-in is from 5 p.m., check-out is at 10 a.m. on the day of departure.

The check-in and check-out times are designed so that my cleaning staff have enough time to prepare the apartment between stays on the same day. Due to the size of the individual apartments, this takes time.

However, earlier check-in or later check-out are possible subject to availability. Talk to me about it.

Neighbourhood

The significantly larger Catholic St. Pius Church is 200m away from the former St. Luke's Church, where you stay.

In the distance in the direction of Kelheim's old town, the memorial of the Liberation Hall can be clearly seen. The rotunda of the Lukaskirche was specially adapted to the round shape of the Liberation Hall by the architect and was designed in this way.

Furthermore, the Weltenburg monastery with the adjacent Danube Gorge can be reached in 15 minutes by car. Hiking routes start in Kelheim.

The picturesque Altmühltal begins right next to Kelheim with its castles, palaces, mountains and valleys worth seeing, as well as rocks and Roman testimonies and, of course, the Altmühl river that gives it its name.

The Danube is also just around the corner and with its cycle paths and natural monuments such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site Danube Limes, it also creates correspondingly beautiful landscapes.

Last but not least, my home in Regensburg is of course always worth a trip. I'm happy to give you tips.

Transport

You can park anywhere on the street (Kleiberstrasse and Elsterstrasse). Please be considerate of the residents opposite and their driveways so that they can get in and out easily.

There are also 3 gravel parking spaces next to the courtyard entrance and 2 more in the driveway if parking is good. Please do not park in front of the garage, this is already in use.

Take a look at the parking regulations. This is hanging in the hallway.
